IN MEMORIAM

BILL NEUBAUER
1953-2008
The Western New York community and the music
world at large has lost a true master. Bill Neubauer, “Buffalo’s
Ambassador for Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar” performed at the
Tonawanda Folk Festival in 2006 and 2007. He had a joy and
enthusiasm for music that was balanced by his gentle spirit. His
unique style and relaxed personality will truly be missed.
The 2009 Tonawanda Folk Festival was dedicated
to his memory.

CATCHING UP

SILHOUETTE
(2007 and 2008 performers)
Silhouette has expanded to a 4 piece band and
played at Canal Fest in
Tonawanda, NY for 2 years in a row. A recent stop into one of Silhouette's cafe
shows found a standing room only crowd captivated by the girls'
sweet three part harmonies.
We expect great things in the days to come from
this group!

JIM PIRINELLI
(2006 performer)
Jim Pirinelli released his first CD,
titled "Bikes & Boats & Beers", which was produced by Armand Petri
(who in the past worked with the Goo Goo Dolls and 10,000
Maniacs). Jim's song "Stillwaters" from the disc was added to the
107.7FM The Lake playlist. The station and its listeners liked the
song so much, it made it onto their Local Music Volume 4
compilation CD!

THE HIGHWAY BEAUTIFUL
(2005 performer)
Since appearing at the very first Tonawanda Folk
Festival way back in 2005, Jason "The Highway Beautiful" Jurewicz
has performed over 250 shows across the country. Locally, he was
part of the "Music is Art - Live at the Center" television show's
first season lineup.
In addition to the legions of fans he has
gained, his efforts have twice been rewarded: he was the recipient
of bi-coastal music awards as 2006 Pop Male Vocalist of the Year
in the LA Music Awards, and 2006 Best New Original Band in the
Buffalo Music Awards.
Currently, the music of THE HIGHWAY BEAUTIFUL
can be heard on MTV's dating show "NeXt".
